Prosecutors in Los Angeles have dropped half of the criminal counts in the sexual assault case against celebrity India-born fashion designer Anand Jon.The charges against Jon include forcible rape, lewd acts upon a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sexual battery by restraint and attempted forcible oral copulation.Jon is a well-known figure in the celebrity fashion world and has designed clothes for Paris Hilton, singer Mary J Blige and others.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he arrived at Jon's apartment around 9.30 am, and when he first saw the woman, she appeared to be in a "happy, giddy mood."
Britney Harrington and Jamie Huebscher, two United States-based models, who had been working with Jon for a year prior to his arrest last March, addressed the media in Mumbai on Monday in his lawyer Majid Memon's office. "Anand is innocent. I challenge the girls (who accused him of rape/molestation) to confront me. I was there (when the alleged incidents happened) and nothing happened," said Harrington. She said that some of the girls even approached her.
Jon will be appearing in person in Los Angeles Superior Court in Beverly Hills on April 4 for arraignment.
